Polish President Andrzej Duda proposed to NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg to increase the readiness of forces on the eastern flank of the alliance, RIA Novosti reports.
The Polish leader spoke about this after a meeting with Stoltenberg, which took place today in Brussels.
Earlier, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki threatened Belarus with new sanctions in the event of an escalation on the border.
In turn, the head of the Belarusian Defense Ministry Viktor Khrenin called the buildup of NATO forces near the country’s borders “preparation for war.”
Prior to that, he said that Belarus does not need new Russian bases, despite the activity of NATO.
