Italpol has demonstrated the work of service dogs to identify coronavirus-infected passengers at Rome’s Fiumicino airport, reports Interfax citing Italian media.
According to dog handlers, animal preparation takes six to eight weeks and is best done in a playful way. The training is based on the fact that dogs can pick up the special odor that people with COVID-19 have, including those that are asymptomatic.
Earlier it was reported that animals are already being used at airports to identify infected people. UAE and Finland.
Last fall in the Russian Federation also began to train dogs to recognize patients with coronavirus infection in the crowd. It was noted that some of the animals already have experience associated with the identification of cancer patients.
