Over the past 20 years, the number of British adults admitted to hospitals with dog bites has tripled. And this is already becoming a health problem.
Researchers from Liverpool found that 15 people per 100 thousand of the population were bitten last year. 8 thousand people turned to hospitals for help.
Scientists say that this number includes only cases of severe bites, requiring the help of doctors, in fact, there are much more victims. Often, dog owners choose not to seek medical help.
It is alarming that only the number of bitten adult men is growing. Although dogs, according to statistics, most often attack young guys, girls and middle-aged women. At first glance, the safest thing to do is to live in a city away from the evil country dogs. However, experts warn that any dog can bite, no matter how well he knows you, and, as a rule, all attacks occur in the home of the dog’s owner.
People sitting with animals in isolation are advised not to annoy their pets too much, and if the dog wants to be alone, do not disturb it. Experts remind that dogs do not want to bite anyone, for them this is the last means of dealing with some kind of inconvenience, so you need to carefully monitor for warning signs of her anxiety. It is recommended to treat the dog with respect and not to approach it suddenly, especially when it is eating or sleeping.
A dog’s bite is not too dangerous, as the bacteria on its teeth rarely cause serious infectious diseases, unless, of course, it is infected with rabies. When bitten, it is recommended to rinse the wound for a couple of minutes with warm tap water, then press on it to drain some blood, and then apply a sterile bandage.
