Dodon said that in the future he has the opportunity to become prime minister

Ex-President of Moldova Igor Dodon admitted the likelihood that he would take office as prime minister after the parliamentary elections, RIA Novosti reported.

Answering a question from journalists about his readiness to take this post, Dodon said that it is too early to talk about it, but on occasion he could create a team of professionals that would cope with the situation.

Earlier, he said that early parliamentary elections in Moldova could be held in June this year, however, according to the schedule, the next elections should take place in 2023.

Former President of Moldova Igor Dodon previously headed the country’s largest Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova, at the congress his candidacy was supported by a majority of votes.

Moldovan Prime Minister Ion Chicu resigned in December 2020 for early parliamentary elections to take place in the country. Moldovan President Maia Sandu has appointed ex-Minister of Finance Natalia Gavrilitsa, who is vice-chairman of the Action and Solidarity Sandu party, as a candidate for prime minister.
