Uzbekistan prepares for presidential elections. This Sunday, October 24, the people of the republic will vote for one of the candidates for the post of head of state. Observers from different countries, including Russia, will come to observe the elections in Uzbekistan.

The Russian delegation will be represented by members of various organizations, in particular, from the State Duma and from the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS member states. The mission will be headed by Leonid Kalashnikov, head of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots.

In an exclusive interview with the editorial office of NewInform, the deputy spoke about why these elections are of great importance not only for Uzbekistan itself, but also for Russia.

“These elections are very important for Uzbekistan today, because both in the economy and in politics, the country faces serious challenges, especially with regard to security at its borders. At the same time, the current President Shavkat Mirziyoyev is pursuing a friendly and good-neighborly policy towards both his neighbors and towards the Russian Federation, ”the source said.

Kalashnikov noted that at present, relations between Russia and Uzbekistan are developing rapidly. This conclusion can be made based on the increase in the number of bilateral treaties between countries.
