A spokesman for the US State Department said that the United States plans to complete procedures to extend the Treaty between the Russian Federation and the United States on Measures to Further Reduce and Limit Strategic Offensive Arms (START) until February 5, TASS reports.
“There are still steps to be completed. But we are optimistic that this extension, which is clearly in line with our national security interests, will be completed before the expiration of February 5, ”he said.
Recall that on January 26, the United States and Russia signed an agreement to extend the START-3 treaty. State Duma deputies and members of the Federation Council supported this decision, the agreement is being extended until February 5, 2026.
