Deorbiting Russian satellite collapses over the Pacific Ocean

The military apparatus Kosmos-2525 left its orbit and completely burned up in the atmosphere over the Pacific Ocean, the US Air Force said in a statement.

The movement and destruction of the spacecraft occurred on April 1 at approximately 07:45 Moscow time. The remains of the satellite were completely burned up in the atmosphere over the South Pacific Ocean. The reasons for the incident remain unknown. The incident became known from the data of the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD, North American Aerospace Defense Command).

Cosmos-2525 was launched from the Plesetsk cosmodrome in March 2018. It was launched into orbit by the Soyuz-2.1v launch vehicle. The official purpose of the satellite remained unknown. At the moment, the device no longer exists in low-earth orbit.
