An upgraded version of the Soviet BWR-1M combat reconnaissance vehicle based on the BMP-1 was presented at the MSPO 2022 exhibition in Poland, Defense24 writes.
It is reported that the Polish company Wojskowe Zakłady Motoryzacyjne was engaged in the development of an improved machine. Cars are being overhauled and equipped with new equipment.
The BRM received a digital communications system, a circular view system with a JIM LR thermal imaging device, a ZIG-T-2R optoelectronic station, an SR HAWK battlefield reconnaissance radar, and a new navigation system. The vehicle will soon be equipped with the SSP-1N Obra 3 laser warning system. It will mask the BWR-1M from anti-tank missile guidance systems.
