Defense One: Kyiv hopes to receive ATACMS ballistic missiles from Washington

The Ukrainian government is counting on the United States to agree to supply ATACMS ballistic missiles. This is stated in an article published by Defense One.

According to Deputy Defense Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Gavrilov, Kyiv hopes that after the announcement of partial mobilization by Russian President Vladimir Putin, Washington will be more inclined to provide these weapons. He announced this during a conference of the National Defense Industrial Association, held in Texas.

“I think that after Putin’s statement today, we are closer to a political decision in Washington that Ukraine deserves ATACMS and really needs them,” Gavrilov said.

The Deputy Minister also reported on fears in the United States that Ukraine would use ATACMS missiles against targets in Russia. According to Gavrilov, Kyiv has no such plans. However, he noted that the goals of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are “in the Crimea.”
