Czech resident informs police about pink tank as part of arms amnesty

The arms amnesty, when illegal weapons can be handed over to the police without punishment, is taking place in the Czech Republic. One of the local residents admitted to the police that he has a pink T34-85 tank and an SD-100 SPG.

Representative of the department Iva Kormoshova told reporters about it. According to her, the man had been holding the weapons legally since the 1990s, but doubted that they were sufficiently thin and could not be used for shooting.

“The experts looked at both the tank and the self-propelled gun and came to the conclusion that they were not sufficiently deactivated in accordance with the current rules. Therefore, both were transferred from the category of “safe material” to the category of “prohibited weapons”, ”added Kormoshova.

However, the police left both the tank and the gun mount with their owner. The man promised to bring their deactivation to the legal norm.

The arms amnesty is held regularly in the Czech Republic. In 2021, it runs from January to the end of July.
