The Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Stanislav Zas informed international organizations about the peacekeeping operation in Kazakhstan, RIA Novosti reports.
The corresponding notification was sent to the United Nations (UN), the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).
Recall that against the background of protests in Kazakhstan, the President of the Republic, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, turned to the CSTO partners for help. Peacekeepers from Russia, Belarus, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia have been sent to the country.
As previously reported, the servicemen of the Russian contingent have already helped the Kazakh security forces to take control of the Almaty airport.
