CSTO peacekeepers flew from Kazakhstan to the Ulyanovsk region and the Moscow region

Russian peacekeepers from the CSTO forces in Kazakhstan, together with military equipment, flew from Alma-Ata to Russia, the press service of the Russian Defense Ministry reports.

Il-76 aircraft will deliver the personnel and equipment of the Airborne Forces units, which completed tasks as part of the collective peacekeeping forces, to the Vostochny airfield in the Ulyanovsk region and Chkalovsky airfield in the Moscow region.

There they will organize a solemn meeting, after which the personnel will begin to unload weapons and march to the points of permanent deployment.

According to Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, the withdrawal of the peacekeeping contingent from the republic is planned to be completed by January 19.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted the important role of the CSTO peacekeeping forces in stabilizing the situation in Kazakhstan.
