Deputy Director of FBSI Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor Alexander Gorelov said that children under one year old who are bottle-fed are the most severely ill with the new coronavirus, the newspaper Izvestia writes.
According to the specialist, this happens because the key immune components do not reach infants with breast milk, and their own body does not yet produce enough protective antibodies.
“Artists, in principle, suffer more severely from any infectious diseases in relation to babies who are fed with breast milk,” Gorelov explained.
He added that in the case of coronavirus, artificial people are more likely to die of pneumonia.
The expert also noted that the next group of children who have the most severe cases of COVID-19 are teenagers 13-18 years old.
Earlier it was reported that the “British” strain of coronavirus infection poses a particular danger to children, adolescents and young people under the age of 21. The main pediatrician of Slovakia, Elena Prokopova, spoke about the features of the mutated form of infection.
