Insurance policies against coronavirus are becoming popular among Russian clients in connection with a new outbreak of the disease, market participants said.
At the same time, in the summer, at the time of the decline in morbidity, the demand for such products decreased. After the peak of demand in April-May 2020, the second growth was recorded in August.
Since spring, 720 thousand insurance policies have been sold, which covered cases of coronavirus. Payments to citizens have already amounted to at least 300 million rubles, it follows from the data of the top 10 largest insurance companies. At the same time, a third of those who used the insurance are medical workers.
In different companies, the price of such policies varies from 1.8 thousand to 8.4 thousand rubles, payments in case of illness will be from 20 thousand to 110 thousand rubles, and in case of death - from 500 thousand to one million rubles. Payments for them are provided in any case, regardless of the pandemic or emergency mode.
However, as the analyst of the company "Freedom Finance" Yevgeny Mironyuk said, not all cases of the company's disease can be considered insurance.
It is often not enough to test positive for coronavirus. The insured receive payments under the terms of part of the policies only if hospitalization is necessary or in more severe cases., - the expert noted.
Mironyuk believes that the demand for insurance against coronavirus will grow in the near future, but is unlikely to become a rush.
As chernayakobra.ru wrote earlier, Russia may reach the peak number of coronavirus infections in the next few weeks, says Anatoly Altstein, professor of the N.F. Gamaleya Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology of the Russian Ministry of Health.
