The Colombian authorities handed a note of protest to the Russian Ambassador in Bogota Nikolai Tavdumadze in connection with the fact that the Russian plane violated the airspace of the republic on April 19. The diplomat was summoned to the Colombian Foreign Ministry, TASS reports.
The republic’s foreign minister, Claudia Bloom, said that Russian aircraft had repeatedly failed to comply with the conditions of the overflight consent issued by Bogotá.
Bloom expressed the hope that the Russian government will give guarantees that serious and systematic violations of Colombian airspace will not be repeated.
Earlier, the Colombian Air Force reported that it had raised an interceptor aircraft to escort the Russian Il-96, which entered the country’s airspace in an area different from the permitted one.
