According to the church calendar, 27 on March they commemorate Euchimon the Confessor, Bishop of Lampsakia, who suffered for icon veneration under the emperor Theophilos (829 – 842).
Evshimon the Confessor lived in the 9th century on the banks of the Dardanelles in Asia Minor. He distinguished himself with a virtuous life from his youth, and having accepted tonsure and devoted himself wholeheartedly to the Orthodox faith, he reached the height of the episcopal dignity. raised the dead baby, it inspired fear in the wild beasts when they tried to harm the herds, driving them away in one word and so on.
Under the iconoclast emperor Theophile was imprisoned for veneration of the Saints icons. Later he was sent into exile, where he died.

According to the church calendar, 27 in March they commemorate the blessed Grand Duke of Kiev and Smolensk, Rostislav-Mikhail Mstislavich, an outstanding statesman and church leader.
Rostislav was born in 842, and in 15 – in the summer he became the ruler of Smolensk. The Smolensk principality completely changed during the years of his reign. Internal feuds practically ceased, the welfare of the people improved and churches were built.
Smolensk diocese Rostislav – the founder of the Smolensk princely dynasty, established in 1136 – m, and a year later he built two fortresses – Mstislavl and Rostislavl (now Roslavl).
He also founded the cities of Propoisk, Krichev, Vasiliev and others. Not wanting to participate in bloody wars, he ceded the Principality of Kiev, which he ruled for a while, to his uncle – Yuri Dolgoruky.
The prince wanted to become a monk, but did not have time – he died in 1167 year after a long illness. Rostislav Mstislavich was buried in Kiev-Theodorov Monastery, according to his will.
