Chinese ByteDance will not sell TikTok algorithm to US

The Chinese company ByteDance is not going to sell the TikTok app algorithm to the United States.

The company will not transfer the source code to any United States purchaser. But TikTok's U.S. tech team could develop a new algorithm, - reported the South China Morning Post source.

The publication clarifies that ByteDance has already notified the American authorities and potential buyers of its decision.

Earlier it became known that ByteDance, most likely, will not have time to sell the TikTok platform it created to an American buyer until September 20, 2020 - the expected date of entry into force of the White House's ban on concluding any agreements with the developer. The company will take much longer to sign the document due to the need to verify a potential deal for compliance with Chinese laws. We are talking about the financial and technical aspects of the issue.

The main contenders for the acquisition of TikTok are Microsoft and Oracle. They asked ByteDance to provide as much data as possible about new regulations that would prohibit the export of certain artificial intelligence technologies, possibly available from TikTok.

US President Donald Trump signed a decree on August 14, according to which transactions with companies that own TikTok and WeChat applications in the US jurisdiction should be terminated within 45 days. According to the head of state, these applications threaten the security, foreign policy and economy of the United States. TikTok is a service for creating and viewing short videos, owned by the Beijing company ByteDance and launched in China in 2016, wrote.
