China calls for restraint amid Pyongyang’s missile launches

Zhang Jun, China’s Permanent Representative to the UN, said that Beijing, against the backdrop of the recent missile launches of the DPRK, calls on all parties on the Korean Peninsula to be restrained in their actions, TASS reports.

“We are closely following the development of the situation <...>… We call on all parties involved to remain calm and exercise restraint, ”he said.

He also added that the sanctions regime of the UN Security Council against Pyongyang should be adjusted taking into account the humanitarian situation in the DPRK.

On the morning of October 19, information appeared that the North Korean military launched a short-range ballistic missile towards the Sea of ​​Japan.

The range of its flight, according to various estimates, was from 450 to 590 km, and the height of the trajectory was 60 km. At the same time, the Japanese authorities reported that the DPRK launched two missiles.

The US condemned the ballistic missile launch and called on North Korea to refrain from any destabilizing action.
