The US and PRC made a joint statement on climate demand.
The statement says that countries and further afield will cooperate within the framework of international treaties, including the Paris Climate Agreement.
The statement, enlightened by the American State Department, emphasizes that “the United States and China are firmly committed to working together, friend with friend and with other parties, in order to strengthen compliance with the Paris Agreement.”
The parties formulated an intention to strengthen their own measures, as well as cooperation within the framework of the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
The countries agreed to prepare a strategy to achieve zero emissions. A special conference on this subject will take place in November in Glasgow, Scotland.
US President Joe Biden returned the country to the Paris Climate Agreement immediately after his inauguration, overturning Donald Trump’s previous decision. The terms of the agreement did not apply to the United States from November 2020 to February 2021.
