Yesterday, the annual American Glamor’s Women of the Year award was held in a virtual format due to the turbulent situation in the world associated with the coronavirus. The 45-minute ceremony will be hosted by Grammy-nominated sister soul duo Chloe x Halle.
Charlize Theron, Ryan Reynolds, John Legend, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and many others came out of their homes via video link. They celebrated the achievements of this year’s winners and addressed all virtual viewers with a speech.

One of the laureates of this year’s ceremony was the American actress and director Regina King. Regina was honored by Charlize Theron, who admitted that she would be happy to show her two adopted children her films when they grow up a little.
The changes in the world have led to so many stories that we usually don’t hear so often – stories about dark-skinned women. She knows it the hard way. She knows who she is and this is reflected in her work. Regina, I’m very happy for you. You are changing the world. I hope you all understand this, – Theron turned to the winner and the audience.
Ryan Reynolds and John Legend also appeared on the air at some point. They both praised the work of lawyer and president of the NAACP Legal Defense Foundation, Sherrilyn Ifill, who also won the Glamor’s Women of the Year award this year.
Racial justice is fundamental to the integrity of a democracy. The time has come for all of us to take on this work. Sherrilyn is funny. Not funny as the leader of one of the most important organizations fighting for democracy and promoting civil rights, but funny, like stand-up comedians, – honored the Reynolds Prize winner with his characteristic humor.
Ifill noted quite different talents in his virtual speech by John Legend, who recently survived a family tragedy:
She really inspires people, especially the team she works with. She attracts the best team to work together for the common good.John Legend
The “Woman of the Year” award this time went to the employees of Elmhurst Hospital in New York, who in recent months have done everything to save lives in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. Their achievements were noted during the broadcast by the American activist and member of the US House of Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Elmhurst Hospital Staff
The hardest part of their job is not only a physical lack of sleep, but also those experiences that will remain with them for the rest of their lives. There were patients who had to spend the last minutes of their lives without family and friends nearby. The doctors in this hospital gave them so much human compassion and warmth that it was much more important than another dose of medicine. We must read them every day,
– said Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
