For 12 years now, her father Jamie has been the guardian of the famous singer Britney Spears. Without his consent, the star cannot manage his finances and make some personal decisions - for example, get married. This state of affairs, of course, does not suit Britney, so she fights for her freedom in court. And she had already won a small victory in this battle.
This week, the court upheld her petition to expand her legal team. The star itself was not at the meeting - her interests were represented by Lynn's mother and lawyer Samuel Ingham.
Spears' father filed a lawsuit last week, arguing that the petition was a waste of money: it would cost his daughter too much. According to Britney's lawyer, her father wants to dominate the entire process, including choosing a trustee.
The only way to ensure Britney's voice is heard is to provide her with a qualified lawyer so that she can play on an equal footing with James.

Jamie and Britney Spears
Britney's legal team insists that her wants and needs are different from "Jamie's vision of her daughter's future in which she will resume performing and completely leave the management of her estate to him as it was before."
The lawyer also added that Spears' current condition is that of a patient in a coma. He clarified that while she is not literally in a coma, she is currently unable to negotiate legal arrangements.
The star herself stated that she wants the most open court, while her father insists that everything goes behind closed doors.
Now Britney's temporary guardian is her father's personal assistant, Jody Montgomery - due to health problems, Jamie was forced to temporarily transfer her rights. The star's father is dissatisfied with the actions of his assistant - he believes that Jody gives his daughter too much freedom. But Britney likes her new guardian, and the artist would not mind if Montgomery changed her father in this position forever.
