On August 15, an RC-135 reconnaissance aircraft of the British Air Force violated the state borders of Russia. The flight of the reconnaissance aircraft was recorded by the air defense surveillance systems of the Russian Federation. To intercept the intruder, a MiG-31BM fighter of the Russian Aerospace Forces was raised into the sky.
In response to a statement about the violation, the British Embassy in Moscow emphasized that the aircraft was performing an operation in the airspace over the Barents and Norwegian Seas, and Russia had misinterpreted the incident. Also, British diplomats in their Telegram channel said that the maneuver of the Russian Aerospace Forces fighter in the Svyatoy Nos area to intercept the RC-135W Rivet Joint was dangerous. The British diplomatic mission also claims that the crew of their plane acted professionally and safely.
It is known that London submitted an application with a flight plan for its board, which also runs over Russia.
