Brazilian Senate indicted Bolsonaro for his pandemic policy

A special commission of the Brazilian Senate finds President Jair Bolsonaro guilty of nine crimes during the pandemic, writes G1.

“The text of the commission’s report contains 68 charges against individuals and companies, among them – President Jair Bolsonaru,” the portal notes.

He is accused of “a fatal epidemic, violation of sanitary measures, quackery, incitement to crime, falsification of documents, irrational use of public funds, malfeasance, crimes against humanity and violation of social rights.”

In October, demonstrations took place throughout the country demanding Bolsonaro’s resignation. The protesters were outraged by the huge number of victims of the pandemic, which has already exceeded 600 thousand.

We add that Bolsonaro, after recovering from the coronavirus, said that there was no need to be afraid of this disease, since almost everyone would someday be infected with it.

In May 2021, the Brazilian president appealed to the country’s Federal Supreme Court with a request to declare the antiquarian quarantine unconstitutional.

Later, the head of the Brazilian Biomedical Institute of Butantan, Dimas Covas, said that Bolsonaro prevented the supply of 100 million doses of CoronaVac vaccine to the country.
