The head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, said that he was instructed to represent the EU in all negotiations on European security, RIA Novosti reports.
The diplomat stated this during a speech at a meeting of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the European Parliament.
According to Borrell, EU ministers agreed to give him full support as a coordinator in this process.
At the same time, the diplomat also pointed out the need for the EU countries to speak from common positions.
In his opinion, the EU is currently “being tested as a political player, and not as 27 individual countries.”
Earlier, Josep Borrell also said that he considered unacceptable Moscow’s proposals for the non-expansion of NATO and the withdrawal of the alliance’s forces from the states bordering on the Russian Federation.
