EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell arrived in Ukraine on the night of January 5. He told about this on Twitter.
The head of the EU diplomacy flew to the Kharkiv airport to first of all visit the village of Lugansk, which is located on the contact line in the Luhansk region. Then he will go to Kiev.
“My first visit in 2022 was to the village of Luhanska and Kiev,” Borrell wrote, adding that he was here to “demonstrate EU support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
Earlier it was reported that Borrell intends to visit the contact line in Donbass, accompanied by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba. The diplomat will then travel to Kiev, where he will hold meetings with the Ukrainian authorities.
As a reminder, on January 6, the Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation Dmitry Kozak will meet in Moscow with representatives of France and Germany within the framework of the “Normandy format”.
