Blinken urges countries to support Afghanistan’s humanitarian needs

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken called on the international community to support Afghanistan’s urgent humanitarian needs, Interfax reports.

“As part of our continued commitment to the people of Afghanistan, the United States today announced nearly $ 144 million in humanitarian assistance to those affected by the ongoing humanitarian crisis,” he said.

It is noted that thus the total volume of US humanitarian aid to Afghanistan and Afghan refugees in the region in 2021 will amount to almost $ 474 million.

Earlier it was reported that the Taliban (the movement is prohibited in the Russian Federation) approved the words of Russian President Vladimir Putin about the possible exclusion from the list of terrorists, since the group, according to its representatives, seeks positive relations with the international community.

It also became known that the EU plans to resume the work of the diplomatic mission in Kabul within a month. At the same time, Brussels urged not to regard these actions as a sign of recognition of the Taliban government.
