US President-elect Joe Biden’s Shepherd Dog named Major will “take over as the first dog of the United States,” according to CBS News.
It is noted that a separate procedure for “indoguration” (English Indoguration, dog – “dog”) will take place on January 17. The ceremony was initiated by the Delaware Humane Association. The association emphasized that the Major became the first dog from the shelters to live in the White House. The proceeds from the event will be donated to charity.
Earlier, Biden announced his intention to return to the tradition, according to which, since the beginning of the 20th century, all American presidents in the White House had dogs. He explained that it was violated by the current leader of the country, Donald Trump.
The Democrat explained that after his inauguration, scheduled for January 20, the German shepherds Champ and Major will move to the White House with him and his wife. Biden noted that he bought the Champ from the breeder, and took the Major from the shelter several years ago.
