Biden’s national security adviser Jake Sullivan said the meeting between the US and Russian presidents should take place under suitable conditions, CNN reported.
At the same time, Sullivan did not give an exact answer when the summit will take place and “whether it will take place.”
Earlier, the press secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov commented on the possibility of Putin’s participation in the climate summit. It was noted that the meeting between the presidents of Russia and the United States could take place on the neutral side. Peskov noted that the Kremlin began to receive explanations only in recent days.
Prior to this, the press secretary of the American White House Jen Psaki said that the head of the United States Joe Biden considers Russia a country that has found itself “outside” the world community.
Psaki added that the American leader views a possible summit with Vladimir Putin as a bridge that can “bring her back,” and therefore it is in Russia’s interests to accept his offer.
