Biden says there is enough oil in the world not to buy it from Iran

US President Joseph Biden said that the world’s oil reserves are sufficient not to buy it from Tehran, Interfax reports.

“In accordance with previous definitions, there is a sufficient supply of oil and oil products from countries other than Iran to significantly reduce the volume of oil and oil products purchased from or through Iran by foreign financial institutions,” he stressed.

It is noted that the White House must confirm every six months that global oil supplies are sufficient to maintain the sanctions against Iran, introduced in 2012.

Earlier it was reported that in March 2021, the United States imported oil from Iran for the first time since 1991. This is evidenced by data from the Energy Information Administration of the US Department of Energy (EIA).

So, in March, the average daily supplies amounted to 33 thousand barrels.

Note that the last time Iran supplied oil to the United States was in November 1991. The volume amounted to 64 thousand barrels per day.
