Biden announces five-day mourning for 500,000 deaths from COVID

US President Joe Biden declared mourning in memory of the 500,000 Americans who have died from the coronavirus.

According to RIA Novosti, the press secretary of the head of state, Jen Psaki, said that flags would be lowered across the country within five days. Also, according to her, the president intends to make a speech to the Americans and hold a ceremony of minutes of silence and lighting candles.

Note that the United States is now in first place in terms of the number of cases of coronavirus infection. On the territory of the country, the virus was detected in 28.1 million inhabitants. And the number of deaths from COVID-19 patients in the United States, according to the media, has already exceeded the country’s combat losses in the Vietnam War, as well as in the First and Second World War.

Earlier, White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki spoke about the progress of COVID-19 vaccine supplies to the US states. According to her, to date, the US authorities have distributed two of the six million doses of the vaccine, but the abnormal cold in the country led to delays in supplies.
