Biden announced a fulfilled promise to Putin

US President Joseph Biden said that he had fulfilled his promise to his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to pursue cybercriminals wherever they are, RIA Novosti reports.

“When I met with President Putin in June, I made it clear that the US would take action to bring cybercriminals to justice. We did it today, ”he said.

“We are using the full power of the federal government to thwart malicious cyber activity and criminals, to bolster defenses in our country, to combat the abuse of virtual currency for ransom money, and to use international cooperation to disrupt the extortion ecosystem and fight the havens of criminals who use ransomware, ”Biden said.

Earlier it was reported that the Russian-American resolution on the norms of conduct in the cybersphere on November 3 without a vote was adopted by the First Committee of the UN General Assembly.

The text of the document says that Russia and the United States urge not to allow the use of information resources or technologies “for criminal or terrorist purposes”, and voluntary norms of responsible behavior of countries can reduce risks to international security.

Moscow and Washington invite all countries to join the rules of conduct in cyberspace.

The document will be submitted to the vote of the entire General Assembly in December.
