Belarusians were delighted: Lukashenka got sick during his speech

The sixth All-Belarusian People’s Assembly began in Minsk yesterday. The event was not without incidents.

A very entertaining video has appeared on the web, which captures a fragment of one of the speeches in the fields of the meeting. On it, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko told the participants about the country’s development strategy for the next five years, but at some point something went wrong.

Lukashenka began to cough violently, which forced him to take a break. The old man tried to laugh it off, saying that a certain “infection” came to him again, which has been tormenting him for three days in a row. After that, he began to cough again. For a moment, a tense silence hung in the hall, but after that the audience for some reason began to applaud. Soon, the head of the Belarusian state continued his speech, but a wheeze was clearly heard in his voice.

Internet users reacted rather ambiguously to this incident. Some hinted that they hoped for a serious illness of the Belarusian leader, while others directly wished him death and even tried to guess how long he had to live. It is noteworthy that, apparently, they were all from Belarus – many commentators had a white-red-white opposition flag instead of a profile photo.

There was also a third category of users who suggested that Alexander Lukashenko fell ill with the coronavirus infection COVID-19, noting that they started it the same way. But according to him, he suffered the disease asymptomatically in the summer of last year.
