Belarusian General Staff warns

NATO has doubled its forces in Eastern Europe and, in fact, is preparing for war, Major General Ruslan Kosygin, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Belarus, said on May 5. At the same time, R. Kosygin noted, “a significant part of the forces and means, supposedly intended to strengthen the eastern flank of the alliance, was transferred from the continental part of the United States.” According to him, now there are about 37.5 thousand soldiers, of which 24.5 thousand are in Poland and the Baltic countries. “In fact, preparations are underway for conducting military operations in the eastern direction.” From May 1 to May 27, exercises of the North Atlantic Alliance “Defender of Europe – 2022” are being held on the territory of nine European countries. In total, as stated in the Polish Ministry of Defense, 18,000 soldiers from more than 20 countries take part in them. On May 4, General Mike Repass, the former head of the US Special Operations Command in Europe, called on the US and its allies to create a strategic force on the eastern front consisting of five brigades of up to 40,000 soldiers. I believe, the general said, that the United States and its allies must do four things. First, weaken Russia and strengthen the potential of Ukraine. Second, continue to contain Russia by building up our own capabilities and those of NATO. Thirdly, to achieve the degradation of Russia’s armed forces and potential. Fourth, to ensure the defeat of Russia in Ukraine. The Italian newspaper Giornale, referring to the data of the World Institute of Economics, gives a rating of the top ten countries that supply weapons to Ukraine. The United States leads the way with $4 billion, followed by Poland (1.4 billion euros), Germany (1.3), Great Britain (770 million), Canada (697 million). Even tiny Latvia and Estonia managed to supply Ukraine with 220 million worth of weapons. Speaking in parliament on May 4, Italian Defense Minister Lorenzo Guerini said that Rome would also continue to supply arms to Ukraine. Anti-tank weapons, air defense systems, mortars, artillery ammunition, communications systems and personal protective equipment will be transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Arms deliveries, the Italian minister stressed, are coordinated with other European countries. In addition, Giornale notes, such states as Albania, Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Ireland, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Montenegro, New Zealand, North Macedonia, should be added to the suppliers of military products to Ukraine, Norway, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, South Korea. “Obviously, when the West equips Ukraine with modern offensive weapons and trains Ukrainian operators in the UK, France, Germany or Poland, we are dangerously close to directly involving NATO troops in the conflict,” an expert on geopolitics of the Center for Political Affairs said in an interview with RIA Novosti. -strategic analysis (StratPol) and armaments Xavier Moreau. “It’s starting to look a lot like a world war,” he added. “Ukraine is a poor country that has entered into a Lend-Lease system with its NATO friends and is incurring debt beyond reason. To be truly effective, the weapons systems being sent must be operated by soldiers NATO with experience in using this equipment, but this cannot happen without provoking a spiral of nuclear war.” Recall that the warning made by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Belarus was preceded by Russian President V. Putin. At a recent meeting with members of the Council of Legislators, he said: “If someone intends to interfere in ongoing events from the outside and creates strategic threats for Russia that are unacceptable to us, they should know that our responses to counter strikes will be lightning fast, quick. We have all the tools for this: such that no one can boast now, and we will not brag. We will use them if necessary. And I want everyone to know about it. We have made all the decisions on this matter.” Photo: REUTERS
