The Belarusian side received the first tranche of the state loan from Russia in the amount of $ 500 million, the press service of the republican Ministry of Finance reports.
The funds were transferred to the department’s account on Wednesday, December 30.
An intergovernmental agreement on the provision of one billion dollars to Minsk by the Russian side in two tranches was signed on December 21.
According to the ministry, Belarus will receive the second transfer next year.
Recall that last October Minsk also received a loan of $ 500 million from the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development. According to the president of the republic, Alexander Lukashenko, the country spent $ 200 million from these funds to pay off the debt for Russian gas. The remaining funds were used to fight the coronavirus pandemic.
Earlier, the Prime Minister of the Republic Roman Golovchenko said that Belarus had agreed with the Russian Federation on the supply of oil and gas in 2021 on favorable terms.
