The military observer of Komsomolskaya Pravda, Viktor Baranets, announced the likelihood of an armed conflict between Turkey and Greece over disputed waters in the Aegean and Mediterranean seas.
“War is very likely. Moreover, such threats have already been heard from Ankara – it will not tolerate the arbitrariness that Greece does in the sea, where huge oil reserves have been discovered, ”he said in an interview with the 360 TV channel.
The conflict has been brewing for a long time, and the warships of the two countries even began to point guns at each other, Baranets added.
Earlier, the head of the Greek Foreign Ministry announced the threat of an open conflict with Turkey and accused the neighbors of violating the country’s sovereignty. The situation between the countries escalated in 2019, when Ankara began mining on a section of the seabed that Greece considers its territory.
