The Bahraini authorities demanded that the Lebanese ambassador leave the kingdom within 48 hours.
The corresponding statement was published on Friday on the official website of the Bahraini Foreign Ministry.
According to representatives of the country’s Foreign Ministry, this decision was made in connection with “unacceptable and insulting statements” made the day before by Lebanese officials.
At the same time, the message indicates that the measures taken will not in any way affect the Lebanese citizens living in Bahrain.
The day before the expulsion of the Lebanese ambassador was also announced by the Saudi Arabian authorities. In addition, the kingdom has temporarily suspended imports of Lebanese products.
Earlier it was reported that Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdullah Buhabib is planning a working trip to Russia.
