Australian Immigration Minister Alex Hawke has decided to revoke the visa of Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic, TASS reports.
According to the statement, the athlete must leave the country as soon as possible. In addition, Djokovic will be banned from entering Australia for three years.
Recall that in early January, the tennis player was detained at Melbourne airport due to the cancellation of a visa. Documentation problems arose due to the fact that Novak Djokovic was unable to provide evidence of a legal medical exemption from vaccination.
The athlete went to court and won the case, but the lawyer of the Australian Cabinet, Christopher Tran, said that the authorities would be able to cancel the visa again if they considered that Djokovic violated the rules for entering the country.
Against the backdrop of problems that have arisen, the organizers of the Australian Open have postponed the tournament draw, which was supposed to take place the day before.
