Austin discussed with the head of the British Ministry of Defense “threats from the Russian Federation”

The new head of the Pentagon, Lloyd Austin, held talks with the head of the British Department of Defense Ben Wallace, Interfax reports.

It is noted that the ministers discussed the topic of confrontation with the PRC and threats allegedly related to Russia. In addition, they exchanged views on the operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.

On Friday, the Senate of the United States Congress approved Lloyd Austin’s candidacy for the post of head of the Pentagon, nominated by new US President Joe Biden. Austin, 67, became the first African American to head the country’s Defense Ministry. The day before, he had a telephone conversation with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

Earlier it was reported that Biden and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson during the telephone conversation discussed the need to coordinate common foreign policy priorities, including China, Iran and Russia.
