At what age is type 2 diabetes most dangerous?

A new study by American scientists, combining the results of 26 previous ones, revealed a pattern: the earlier a person develops type 2 diabetes, the higher the risk of death and complications such as heart disease and stroke, according to US News.

The results of the study are published in the journal Diabetologi.

According to the results of the study, each year of delaying the development of type 2 diabetes reduced the risk of blood vessel disease by 3-5%. Each additional year of age at diagnosis of type 2 diabetes reduced the risk of death during the study period by 4%.

The researchers noted that in cases of type 2 diabetes, young people face as many complications as older people.

In scientific work, the team of scientists combined the results of 26 studies involving more than 1.3 million people from 30 countries. Many studies followed people for ten years, with the average age of participants ranging from 22 to 67 years.

An analysis of studies showed that the older type 2 diabetes occurred, the lower the risk of damage to blood vessels and death.
