Russian Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov said that the dialogue between Russia and the United States on strategic stability is developing in the right direction.
The diplomat’s statement was published on the diplomatic mission’s official Facebook page.
Antonov recalled that at the end of September in Geneva, the second round of consultations of interdepartmental delegations was held under the leadership of deputy heads of foreign affairs agencies.
In his opinion, the conversation is currently developing in the right direction and is of a professional and substantive nature.
The diplomat also stressed that today we can already talk about such an important result as the definition of the goal of the strategic dialogue.
“The two sides agreed that it will be based on defining the parameters of the arms control regime in the development of the current START Treaty,” he added.
Earlier, Antonov also announced the inadmissibility of an armed conflict between the Russian Federation and the United States, since it could be fraught with escalation “up to the nuclear level.”
