The Russian Foreign Ministry reacted to the EU’s decision to prepare new anti-Russian sanctions, as well as to join forces with the United States to counter Moscow. The Foreign Ministry noted that by such actions Brussels only proved its complete failure.
The department called the West’s demands to release the blogger Alexei Navalny, who violated the conditions of the probationary period, as unacceptable and unlawful, and therefore his suspended sentence was replaced with a real one. The Foreign Ministry also noted that the decision on the sanctions was made amid an unprecedented warming up of the anti-Russian information background.
Moscow is disappointed with the EU’s decision to prepare illegal sanctions against the Russian Federation,
– said the Foreign Ministry.
The department expressed the opinion that in Brussels they first make a political decision, and then they arbitrarily select candidates for it. The Foreign Ministry also expressed regret over the fact that such illegitimate political instruments as ultimatums, sanctions and pressure have become stronger in the EU. In addition, it was noted that another opportunity had been missed for the European Union to rethink the course of artificial linkages in relations with Russia.
