Another guest from NATO promised Georgia a future in the alliance

Javier Colomina recalled the importance of this region for the United States

Almost every day Tbilisi receives distinguished guests – the visit of the head of the Pentagon was followed by a visit to Georgia by the new NATO Secretary General’s Special Representative for the South Caucasus and Central Asia Javier Kolomina… This is his first official visit to Georgia within the framework of a regional tour – on the way from Baku to Yerevan.

New Special Representative met with the President of the country Salome Zurabishvili, prime minister Irakli Garibashvili, Speaker of Parliament Kakhoy Kuchava, Minister of Defense Dzhansher Burchuladze, Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani and representatives of civil society. He confirmed to everyone the “unshakable support” for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia, both from Washington and from himself. The main topics of the talks were the situation and security in the Caucasus and the Black Sea region and the promise of expanding partnership with the alliance.

Kolomin managed to visit the border with South Ossetia and look through binoculars at the “occupied lands” of the Tskhinvali region, which gave him a reason to once again remember about “territorial integrity”, informs Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.

“This morning I was at the administrative border line. I was very impressed by what I saw on the spot, as well as the detailed information provided by the Georgian side. It was really very good that I saw with my own eyes what I had been reading about over the past weeks, while planning and preparing this visit ”,

– Kolomina shared his impressions.

Again, there was a lot of talk about Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic prospects and assurances of overseas support. According to the distinguished guest, Georgia already uses all the “mechanisms” of the alliance, which is more.

“Georgia is a very important partner of NATO, it already uses all practical mechanisms. We want to have a comprehensive relationship with Georgia. High-level visits and statements of NATO support for Georgia testify to the close relationship between Georgia and NATO. I would like to once again express our gratitude for the significant contribution that your country has made over the past years in Afghanistan as a country – one of the main contributors ”,

– said the special representative after a meeting with Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani and recalled the importance of this region for the alliance and the United States.

And even wrote on your page in Twitter that the alliance is committed to Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic aspirations. Of course, I am committed – so that Georgia can be used in the interests of NATO the way NATO wants.
