Former footballer and coach of "Spartak" Andrei Tikhonov confirmed the possibility of being appointed to the post of head coach of "Astana", RBC reports.
According to the specialist, he is already negotiating with the leadership of the Kazakh club. However, he did not specify at what stage the negotiations are.
Earlier, the media reported that Tikhonov is close to being appointed coach of the team.
The previous head coach of Astana, Czech Michal Bilek, resigned on 26 August.
Soviet and Russian footballer Andrei Tikhonov played in such clubs as Spartak (Moscow), Lokomotiv (Astana), Khimki. After completing his playing career, he worked in the coaching staff of Spartak and Krasnodar. In 2016, Tikhonov became the head coach of Yenisei, and a year later he headed Wings of the Soviets, which he took to the top division. In 2018 he was dismissed.
