Russian Andrei Tikhonov became the head coach of the Kazakhstani football club "Astana". This was reported by the club's press service.
The details of the contract were not specified.
Note that on October 16, Tikhonov turned 50 years old. The club also congratulated him on his anniversary and wished him health, family well-being and great victories.
Behind Tikhonov's shoulders is work in the coaching staff of Krylia Sovetov, Spartak, Shchelkovo Sparta, Krasnodar, Yenisei.
In the 2009/10 season, Tikhonov played for Astana and was the team captain. As part of the club, he won silver medals in the Kazakhstan championship.
Also in the "Spartak" Tikhonov eight times became the champion of Russia.
Note that on August 26, Czech specialist Michal Bilek left the post of head coach of Astana. The duties of the mentor were performed by Briton Paul Ashworth, who resigned from this post on October 7.
