Ambassador of Ukraine called the inclusion of his country in NATO Germany’s responsibility

Ukrainian Ambassador to Berlin Andriy Melnyk called on the FRG as soon as possible to achieve the entry of his country into NATO, “in order to prevent a new war in Europe.”

In an interview with Welt am Sonntag, the diplomat reiterated the special historical responsibility Germany bears before the Ukrainians for Nazi crimes.

According to him, Berlin must play a leading role for Ukraine to become a NATO member “as soon as possible, without” but “and” if “. According to him, “it will be a cold shower that will cool the hot heads in the Kremlin.”

The ambassador also called on the German government to warn Russia about the “painful consequences” in the event of an invasion of eastern Ukraine.

A month ago, Andrey Melnik called on Germany to make every effort to “return” Crimea. He said that the return of the peninsula to Ukraine is a “moral duty” of Germany in connection with its “historical responsibility to Ukraine for Nazi tyranny.”

Recently, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the country’s security in the long term can only be guaranteed by joining NATO. In addition, he believes that this is the only way to end the conflict in Donbass.

Meanwhile, the plenipotentiary representative of the Russian Federation in the contact group Boris Gryzlov accused the representatives of NATO countries of supporting Kiev’s military activity in the Donbass.
