The head of the New People party, Alexei Nechaev, was elected chairman of the faction in the State Duma, head of the party executive committee Vladislav Davankov and ex-mayor of the city of Yakutsk Sardana Avksentyeva became his deputies. This is reported by TASS.
The fifth faction of the parliament also nominated Davankov for the post of vice-speaker of the Duma of the VIII convocation. As Alexei Nechaev told reporters after the October 11 meeting, the faction plans to send Avksentieva to the Duma Committee on Regional Policy and Local Self-Government. He explained that the regional agenda is one of the central directions in the party’s program.
Last week, the working group of State Duma deputies on the preparation of the first plenary session of the lower house of the Russian parliament distributed committees on the proposals of the parties. Taking into account the wishes of the factions, 17 representatives of the United Russia party, five representatives of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, four each from the SRHP and the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia, as well as two parliamentarians from the New People can become the heads of the committees.
Earlier, the State Duma proposed to increase the number of committees. Their list and composition will be discussed at the first meeting.
It is known that the plenary session of the eighth convocation of the State Duma on October 12 will be opened by the first woman-cosmonaut, a deputy from United Russia, Valentina Tereshkova.
