The former commander of the Black Sea Fleet, Admiral Vladimir Komoyedov, explained whether the missiles received by Ukraine pose a threat to Russian ships.
In his opinion, the statements of the Ukrainian side that the delivered missiles are enough to sink the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation do not correspond to reality, writes MK.
“They want to show their military superiority, but this does not correspond to reality, so they have to lie,” says Komoyedov.
He is sure that Russian ships are protected from any threats, but it is important to correctly use the available air defense systems.
The Harpoon missiles that Ukraine has received differ in that they fly at low altitudes and are therefore difficult to detect. Therefore, it is important to apply detection systems that react with lightning speed.
“To ensure the defense of the ships of the Black Sea Fleet from such Western weapons, we need to strain our brains well so that it doesn’t work out like with the Moskva cruiser,” Komoyedov emphasized.
He added that Russian warships have weapons that will also protect against Harpoon missiles. It is necessary to focus on the detection of these missiles, including constant air and space reconnaissance. If these missiles are detected in time, then it will not be difficult for anyone to destroy them.
