Actor and TV presenter Igor Wernik remembered about his late father, director Emil Wernik on Victory Day. He said that the People’s Artist of the Russian Federation celebrated and loved this great holiday.
Igor Vernik posted a photo with his father and brother on his Instagram page. The picture shows a smiling director still alive, wearing a jacket with awards and medals. The actor wrote that the photo was taken exactly one year ago.
“Dad was always looking forward to this day, May 9th. As a child, we went with him to Red Square. Later we definitely watched the parade together, ”the TV presenter shared.
According to Igor Vernik, in the evenings on Victory Day, his father wore a suit, and his jacket always had awards and medals. After that, the director recalled how he read poetry for soldiers at the front.

Emil Wernik died on April 9, 2021, at the age of 96. The cause of death of the people’s artist was cardiac arrest. The director was buried at the Vostryakovskoye cemetery. During the farewell ceremony with his father, Igor Vernik could hardly hold back tears.
