A harbinger of a brain tumor. Why is it dangerous when a person hears himself?

The state when a person suddenly begins to hear himself is not as rare as it seems. In some cases, this may be a variant of the norm, but for the most part it indicates some kind of serious health problem.

Scientifically, this variant of pathology is called autophony. What does it signal when the condition becomes pathologically dangerous and what should be paid attention to when characteristic signals appear, told candidate of medical sciences, otorhinolaryngologist of the highest category Vladimir Zaitsev...

What are the causes of the problem?

Autophony is also called subjective tinnitus. Why can it make noise? There are several reasons. There can be two principal reasons. One is a variant of the norm. They say about him, when he periodically makes a noise in the ear, the situation starts spontaneously and just as spontaneously ends, and he makes a noise for only a few seconds. This occurs, and such a situation is not usually called a deviation from the norm. You don't have to run to the doctor right away. This may be due to overwork, some kind of emotional overstrain of the moment, for example, a person learned some news. Also, this condition can be caused by a change in body position or an increase in blood pressure.

It can also be the noise of blood movement - it happens that people hear movement along the main vessels, that is, vessels at the level of the brain. And since the temporal artery passes into the temporal bone, some meteosensitive people hear its noise.

The second reason is different pathologies. So, for example, people who are meteorological, sensitive to changes in the weather, blood pressure, people with vegetative-vascular dystonia are susceptible to autophony. If you combine all this, then these are people with weak vascular walls. This also includes those who are prone to increased bleeding, for example, the nose bleeds, bruises often appear, and people with high blood pressure also belong here.

In addition, a similar problem can be observed in people with various neurological diagnoses, of which there are a lot.

We also begin to hear ourselves with inflammation of the auditory nerve. Previously, this condition was called acoustic neuritis, then sensorineural hearing loss, now it is called sensorineural hearing loss - this is a unified worldwide standard. The auditory nerve receives less oxygen, and the hair cells of the auditory nerve begin to suffer. As a result, microvilli die, due to which a situation arises when hearing is reduced. Then there is a feeling of deafening, which may be accompanied by subjective noise.

A similar situation can be with the pathology of the auditory tube, its inflammation - this is one of the variants of conductive hearing loss. Also, the problem manifests itself in the presence of a sulfur plug in the ear or some kind of foreign body. For example, a person put earplugs or cotton wool in his ear, and then forgot about it. I felt it with my fingers, like not, and forgot about everything in general, thinking that a foreign object had fallen out. This is a mechanical cause and is treated by removing the object.

A problem may develop against the background of a tightness of the cervical spine, when the vessels are pinched due to tension and hemodynamics is insufficient.

Or another option for the development of pathology is when the lumen of the auditory tube closes. The auditory tube is covered with a mucous membrane that can swell. Because of this, the auditory tube collapses, as if temporarily closes. This is a mechanical problem.

Everything else is associated with the vascular bed - with blood vessels and nerves. Severe ischemia, that is, a lack of oxygen delivered through the vessels, will also be accompanied by autophony, as well as ringing and hum in the ear. A sharp change in blood pressure can also become the cause of this phenomenon - here we are usually talking about a condition when there is a sudden noise in the ear, the head is spinning. Also, the problem can manifest itself when the vessels are stretched, like strings, and are in strong tension. All this must be dealt with, diagnosed.

Nuances of diagnosis

The first thing to do is contact an ENT doctor. He will examine the nasopharynx, ears, pharyngeal cavity. After all, for example, and with otitis media, manifestations of autophony can also develop. In addition, audiometry and tempanometry are performed - special hardware examinations. The audiogram shows sound at all frequencies, and tempanometry evaluates conductive pathology when the conduction of the sound wave is impaired. These analyzes can be used to assess in more detail the nature of the hum. Across the entire tone scale, you can assess the situation: there are areas where beeps are high frequencies, there are areas where noise is a hum. And we understand by frequency what happens to the patient.

Such a state cannot be ignored, because it is fraught with many consequences. If the auditory tube is inflamed, constantly welded, one way or another, over time, the feeling of hum, deafening, some pathological sounds will be constant. Then, after these, the middle ear will become inflamed, the eardrum will rupture, and this will lead to otitis media. The problem is mostly mechanical - the ear is inflamed, the membrane will never heal. And in a person, in addition to extraneous sounds, suppuration, congestion can be felt.

If the doctor examined the patient and saw that the outer ear is normal - there is no inflammation of the membrane, no retraction, no sulfur plug, there is nothing to complain about, - then suspect that the problem is in the inner ear. This is already a pathology of the auditory nerve. For the treatment of the inner ear, physiotherapy procedures are performed that stimulate the hair cells of the auditory nerve through microinfluence. They try to improve the rheological qualities of blood. When hemodynamics improves, the situation improves.

It is necessary to visit a neurologist - he will prescribe his own, stronger drugs. The third step is contacting a chiropractor. It just removes the stiffness of the occipital muscles, trapezius muscle, improves blood flow in the collar zone.

Complications of the problem

There is no need to delay visiting a doctor and diagnostics, because this can be a harbinger of heart attacks, strokes, as well as a sharp rise in pressure. Maybe a person already has a pressure pathology, but he does not know about it. This may indicate some serious neurological diagnoses and problems with the brain - tumor processes in the brain. The body gives specific signals and asks to deal with this. Therefore, we must understand. The sooner a person turns and the more qualified hands he gets, the sooner and more painlessly his question will be resolved.

There are contraindications, you need to consult a doctor
