Applications for participation in the preliminary voting of “United Russia” for the nomination of a party candidate for elections to the State Duma have submitted at the moment 641 people, 400 have already been registered, reports TASS.
The nomination for the primaries began on March 15th. It takes up to 5 days to check the documents of the applicant. To date, 508 applications have been considered, 400 candidates have already been registered, 95 have been refused, six have lost their candidate status.
It is noted that “United Russia” has been conducting preliminary voting for the selection of candidates for the elections for several years. Participation in it is mandatory for nomination from the party.
Earlier, a State Duma deputy from the Lublin region, Pyotr Tolstoy, announced that he had registered to participate in the primaries of United Russia. According to him, the institution of primary elections allows many to become participants in the political process. Membership in the party is not required to participate in the primaries, and the selection of candidates is public.
